This is a newly developed position providing support to the Executive Director by coordinating various efforts within the CGIAR System Organization, across CGIAR Research Centers, and with external partners. The role line manages the Executive Assistant and involves an exciting mix of external engagement and project management to deliver on the following broad areas of responsibility:
This is a strategic role responsible for effective coordination and project management, most notably coordinating the development of the CGIAR 2030 Plan and managing development processes for CGIAR’s System-wide 3-year business plans and the System Management Office’s annual and multi-annual work plans.
Provision of operational support with respect to:
Development and improvement of the Organization’s policies, guidelines, procedures, and tools;
Preparation of a high standard of correspondence and briefing papers in preparation for and execution of external or high-level meetings and conference
Working collaboratively with the System Organization’s management team to ensure effective leadership across various operational and people management areas
Undertaking special projects as needed
Fostering or contributing to highly collaborative teamwork, communication, knowledge sharing, and capacity building to further advance delivery of CGIAR’s business plan(s).
Demonstrating effective leadership as a mentor, role model, and manager of directly supervised staff
Skills andCompetences
The Senior Advisor will be a highly effective, flexible and adaptive operator, capable of working on often challenging projects in a fast-paced environment both independently and as part of a larger team and must possess:
- An advanced university degree in a relevant field such as Business or Public Administration, International Relations, Development Studies or other related fields;
- The position requires a minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in operations, 5 of which must have involved extensive project management and/or supporting an executive or senior role, preferably with experience in international development and multilateral organizations;
- A high degree of accuracy and attention to detail, particularly with respect to delivering briefing papers, presentations, reports, and analyses
